About the society:

History

A few years ago following discussion on the future of the Victoria Halls, the late Jimmy McGinlay called a meeting of interested organisations to look at provision for the Arts in Linlithgow. Represented in this group, in addition to West Lothian Council were Linlithgow Community Council, Linlithgow Players, & L.A.M.P.

Current home

Film Society showings now take place at Linlithgow High School, sharing the facilities with the Festival Trust, Heritage Trust, Arts Guild, etc. Financial restrictions meant that proper development of the Victoria Halls or even the Burgh Halls could not be considered at that time. Although a more central venue would have been preferred it was decided as an interim measure that "Linlithgow Community Arts Association" would be set up to improve facilities at the Academy. This work was to include improved raked bleacher seating, new lighting and sound equipment, screen and projectors. It is this work which is being funded by a lottery grant, with W.L.C. providing the partnership funding.
In addition the Linlithgow Film Society has received a grant from the Lloyds T.S.B. Foundation for portable Digital/Video projector which will enable us to improve and expand our service to Hospitals, Sheltered Housing etc. in the area. We are very grateful to all who have helped us in any way.
